@jfmezei #HFR will be the biggest investment in Canadian passenger rail in decades, no? It seems likely that the feds will use a design-build approach for construction; it's possible they envision having a private partner for operations and maintenance, but I haven't heard anything about that.

The Trudeau ministry already funded replacement of the #VIARail fleet, so I think they're committed to passenger rail.

Welp, even if all goes to plan, according to this video where citizens delved further into the #HFR proposal, it looks like we won't be get any new trains until the 2030s ☠️ The amount of negotiations, coordinations and meetings takes about 7 years to complete. Then another 3-4yrs to upgrade the tracks.

May I remind everyone that Beijing built 200 #rail stations in 10 years for the Beijing Olympics.

Watched #Avatar in #HFR and both my kids and I agreed that the 24 fps shots felt like lagging to our gaming-centric eyes and we all would have preferred all the shots to be 48fps. My wife was a bit meh to it all.

Komme gerade aus #Avatar 2 und bin wirklich begeistert von der #truecutmotion Technologie. Es ist weniger anstrengend den Film mit 48fps zu sehen und die meisten Szenen sehen wirklich besser aus!
An der ein oder anderen Stelle ist es aber tatsächlich zu clean und lässt an stutter missen und man merkt wenn es zwischendurch wieder nur 24fps sind
Aber richtig eingesetzt sorgt #HFR für ein wesentlich angenehmeres Filmerlebnis. Bin gespannt Kritiken dazu zu lesen

Just finished watching #avatar2. Holly fuck is good. The story is okay but the visuals🤩. Still the only two films which, just are #3D, instead of making it a gimmick. The #HFR was actually nice compared to #TheHobbit but I didn’t like that it changed during the film.

Trying to figure out which showing of #Avatar to see in Western CT. I’d prefer 3D with #HFR but the #Dolby Cinema in Danbury isn’t 3D from what I see. Do all IMAX 3D have high frame rate presentations (aka 48 fps)? Theaters make it so difficult to know online and I don’t want to have to talk to a human on the phone. Partly social anxiety, partly I won’t actually trust the answer I get.

I do wish the frame rate was kept the same for the entire picture, but that is just me. I usually really struggle with camera panning motions, so I do wish HFR was the default, at least for action movies.

The changing in frame rate can be very noticeable, but in my opinion, it more than makes up for it on the underwater scenes. Those are literally -pun not intended- breathtaking.

Just got home after watching #Avatar #TheWayOfWater on IMAX 3D HFR and I'm still in awe of how good it looked. The underwater scenes were truly an WOW moment. Jim did it again.

If you want spectacle from your movies this is a movie that more than delivers on that aspect.

If you've watched the first one and had reservations about characters, plot, and whatnot, this movie will not fix that. But OMG if it isn't beautiful to look at.
