110 followers · 1484 posts · Server mstdn.socialWatched more Stop! Hibari-kun on my first flight. Fairly early on the anime did what it seemed the manga (or at least the translation I read) never did: actually address Hibari as being a trans girl not being just a crossdressing boy.
Even if it used a slur to do it, really still shocks me how actually ahead of this time both this manga and this anime were.

Only just a few episodes into the Hibari-kun anime, but one thing that I had already noticed with Hibari is that the anime is going full bore with giving her girly outfits that the managaka never did. Opening she has a really nice dress in one of the shots too .
Her manga outfit for this scene is nice too, don't get me wrong. But the furthest it ever seemed to go in the manga for just regular clothes was baggy shorts that look sort of like a skirt but you could tell
