Background: HICPAC is "a federal advisory committee appointed to provide advice and guidance to DHHS and CDC regarding the practice of infection control and strategies for surveillance, prevention, and control of healthcare-associated infections, antimicrobial resistance and related events in United States healthcare settings."

The reason to speak up right now is that HICPAC is currently updating the CDC’s Isolation Precautions: Preventing Transmission of Infectious Agents in Healthcare Settings for the first time since 2007.

For reference, The EPA has recognized that Covid-19 is spread via aerosol/airborne particles and that those particles can remain airborne for hours and accumulate in indoor spaces. And the FDA admits that surgical masks "do not provide a reliable level of protection from aerosolized particles because of the loose fit"

Let's come together to let HICPAC know the simple changes they can make to the CDC guidelines to fulfill their mission to prevent healthcare-associated infections!

Here is the email I sent to #HICPAC and #CDC today. The deadline is tomorrow, 25 August.

The original title of this article was called "CDC Weighs Weakening Infection Safety Precautions For Healthcare Workers". Then they changed the title a few hours after the article posted.

It still doesn't minimize the egregious action by #HICPAC, an advisory committee at the #CDC, currently considering WEAKENING infection safety protocols for healthcare workers during an airborne virus pandemic.
