Has anyone done a profit audit of products in various countries? Like, what percentage of the cost of goods is the result of profit through the whole of the chain of production? Like, there is the profit on the final good sold in stores, the profit on the transport of the good from production to PoS, profit on the good at production, and profit on the raw materials at transit from extraction to processing, and profit on the raw materials at extraction. Considering the fact that every step in that chain is incentivised to post a profit every quarter, that strongly indicates that PoS profit is only a small part of the total profit extraction from a product.

So, is a product made and sold at pennies on the dollar, or pennies on the hundred? Food for thought. If there is a study on this question, I would love to have it on hand for conversations.
