Procrastination pays off again! A new #HiFi portable music player with #HibyOS was released.

My main gripe with companies like this is that they poop out hardware and never keep the software up-to-date. These do have WiFi and BT, along with a few applications for streaming services. Thus, they are potentially volunerable.

They are seriously still selling an older model with #android 8. Shame.

That's why I figure a stripped down #Linux distro can't be as bad.

Quelle solution open-source pour un #DAC diy ?

Le besoin est simple : streamer de l'audio vers l'installation hi-fi depuis les téléphones et ordis de la maison, comme on le ferait avec un récepteur Bluetooth.

J'ai vu #volumio ou #runeaudio, mais ça ne parle que de lire de l'audio depuis des NAS ou du stockage local, alors qu'ici, on écoute depuis Spotify, Qobuz ou BandCamp.

Le repouet, grandement apprécié, blanchit les dents et fait repousser les cheveux.

I am now the owner of a Technics SL-PG390 CD player.
Since the demise of my Marantz CD56, I have been using my DVD player as a CD player. But no longer.

I took a detour to look at Carnival Records when in town a little earlier,as I know they have some second hand hifi and they had a plethora of CD players.

So £40 lighter I finally have a proper player.
Does it sound better? Possibly not but it might handle some of my less that perfect condition CDs better.

Analyse de pannes d'une chaîne #Hifi #Pioneer XR-P670F : changeur 25 CD hésitant + double lecteur #K7 inopérant.

Après ouverture : 9 CD du changeur sont tombés partout dans le mécanisme et ça bloque le chariot de lecture (les CD sont rangés verticalement et donc il faut vider le changeur avant de déplacer la machine …)
Accès pas trop compliqué à la mécanique K7 : 4 courroies à changer (3 courroies fondues ...).
Ça va être du sport de les replacer correctement 😅

This guy gets it. Whenever I'm looking to buy an album from the 80's or older nowadays, I always consult Dr Loudness War to see what the scores are. Then I often go to the Steve Hoffman Forums and see what people say about the best release of the album I'm searching for.

Just completed my first tube amp kit. From the big Chinese site.

Was a learning experience, as there aren’t really any instructions, just a schematic.

The chassis is nicer than I expected, but the included capacitors were weird unknowns. I instead used Nichicons for the build.

Heater voltage was a bit high, so installed a couple of resistors (and a pilot light) as the final steps yesterday.

Turned out great! Sound quality is amazing, without any background hum or hiss. #hifi #tubes

The #Tidal "Max" High Res FLAC stream (24bit/192 kHz) of George Ezra's Barcelona compared to the 16bit/44.1 kHz is night and day. It's almost like a completely different mastering of the track. I'm listening via my near field desk setup which consists of a PC USB connection into a Schiit Audio Modius/Magnius stack connected via Balanced XLR cables to ADAM Audio T5V Monitors. I should install some room treatment, but have been lazy. #AdventuresInHiFi #HiFi #TidalStreaming #BudgetHiFi
