When you only see the larger issues but miss the smaller ones, the task ahead seems insurmountable. The longer I live, the more I recognize that because of this, everything is far more difficult in my imagination than IRL. Well, except for calculus.

This is ironic because when tackling a big project, it's often far easier to change it into many smaller projects than to take it all on at once. 🧐

(1) Lowbrow/highbrow 구분이 납득이 안 가서 선행 연구를 찾다보면 베버, 그리고 강력하게 자리한 부르디외가 있다.

(2) 그리고 1989년 Lawrence Levine이 “Highbrow/Lowbrow”에서 이 구분이 어느 시대에서부터 시작되었나 분석한 듯 하다. 그에 따르면 이 구분은 한 시대에서 발생했고, 그 이전까지 사람들은 구분 없이 즐겼다고 주장할 듯 하다.
과연 이 책이 부르디외를 넘을 수 있을 것인가?
