Easily. Any #FOSS project created on a segmented network or a VLAN would be a great class-related #higheredtech project for students to work on.

Moving it to the federation? Not sure. I might let students federate internally to simulate the experience, but when it move from project to operation and students/faculty move on, IT is usually left holding the bag.

Better solution: Use the class as a crucible to create interns to support the operation of the Mastodon servers.
