Who's flying at LDRS? I'll be there, since it's our local field. #LDRS #rocketry #highpowerrocketry #modelrockets

Not every flight goes to plan, and today that's how it went. 7.5 out of 9 were successful. The half a point was for a cluster rocket that didn't fully light off the rail (3 out of 4), but was still recovered.
Three pics. The smashed one is the newest version of a BT60 Goblin. Again the chute release pin didn't let go despite several successful tests with the small chute bundle. It made it to 2878' on an Aerotech F67C motor.
The black sleek one is an upscale Estes Ninja, 2.5" diameter. Flew on an Aerotech F40W. Perfect flight to 1500'.
The skyracha rocket, a 4" upscale Big Daddy, flew great on a H130W to 1354'

My kid, the rocket transporter :) He helped fetch the 5" Big Daddy while I was prepping another. #rocketry #highpowerrocketry
Totally Not A King Kraken. Ready to fly.
38mm, 3" mailer tube, printed cone, baffled, zipperless.
Designed and printed these 29-38mm motor adapters in PETG recently. Meant to be similar and as easy as the smaller Estes adapters. Not perfect, I'll make some adjustments. But, they should work fine. There are two files. One for 29mm Aerotech DMS/Single-Use/HobbyLine and the other for 29mm Aerotech High-Power style cases. Both have outer dimensions matching the 38mm HP cases.
Did some #rocketry today with the club. Went 5 for 5 on flights. No long walks. No broken anything. Great day of flying.
Upscale #estesrockets Nike-X on an Aerotech G76 Mojave Green to ~1300'
Sorcerer's Apprentice on an Estes D12-5 to 750'
Der Big Red Max on an Aerotech F20-4 White Lightning to 750'
Skyracha - a 4" diameter upscale Big Daddy on an Aerotech H128 White Lightning to 1000'
Not pictured; Normal Big Daddy on an Aerotech F39 Blue Thunder to about 800'. Too quick off the rail to get a good shot.

Fins on the Doorknob. Fillet work on the upscale Big Daddy. Doorknob will only get internal fillets, trying to stay scale-ish and all. #rocketry #highpowerrocketry
After a frustrating evening attempting to glass a foam nosecone form and some sleep, got it figured out. Put four layers on. Should do. Now I gotta figure out the shoulder... #rocketry #highpowerrocketry
Stuck some fins on the 5" diameter Big Daddy. Internal fillet fun up next. Also got the motor tube and forward centering ring epoxied into the Doorknob body tube. #rocketry #highpowerrocketry
Also sanded the filled spirals on the Doorknob body tube. These tubes were from my work, on their way to being thrown out. Got a ton of them. 61" long, 5.25" OD with 1/8" thick walls. Very beefy. Cost of nothing is even better. Got many other build ideas stewing.
As for spiral filling, I've gone to using wall spackle from wood filler. Doesn't shrink when it dries and sands very nice with 400 grit to smooth it out and not cause paper tube fuzzies. Goes on easier too and seems to stick really well.

Taking advantage of the time change to work on some builds. #rocketry #highpowerrocketry #modelrockets. Shaped a tip for a 5" Big Daddy nosecone form (will be fiberglass laid over), drilled vent holes in the Big Daddy tube and a 5" Doorknob. Now to reinforce the air foiled Doorknob fins with some epoxy.
