The article says the money will go to the states to make grants to expand high speed internet. But Comcast alone netted over 5 billion dollars last year. I'm really curious to know who is going to get this money. It seems to me that, properly regulated, there is already enough money in the cable/internet business to provide high speed access.

If Mazier’s bill passes, the CRTC would be required to hold public hearings about the new guidelines and then swiftly implement a standard, forcing internet companies to make the new information public. Mazier said the CRTC already defines peak time as between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. and could use that standard for the speed issue as well.

Heute wurde mein Glasfaser-Hausanschluss eingerichtet. Jetzt wird es spannend - da ein Anbieterwechsel getätigt werden muss. Ob der 'neue' Anbieter sein Versprechen des reibungslosen Ablaufes hinbekommt?
Dann muss ich nur noch entscheiden, ob ich meine FritzBox 7490 behalte und ein Glasfasermodem zwischenschalten lasse (wird kostenlos gestellt). Oder ich gleich einen neuen Router kaufe. Günstiger ist Option 1.
Auf WiFi 6 kann ich erst einmal verzichten.
