Brought back some fond memories of times in the Scottish winter hills. (PS the Kahtoola KTS mentioned has been rebranded as the hiking crampons, AFAICT)

11:19. Sat on the 201-bus rattling towards Banchory for more loops of Scolty Tower. The minimum number of laps for today is two. The maximum is four. I have the time today to run and tomorrow to rest, so there are few real constraints beyond the litre of water and the stash of gels that I’ve brought. Tomorrow is a surprise day off from work

Some unfinished business there … at some point before I get too decrepit I’d like to run the #TrantersRound, and the #CapeWrathTrail unsupported, for that’s the purest form of the game. The former is realistic, the latter perhaps not, but what’s the point of aspiration if the goal is clearly obtainable?

I see it stood until 2021 (Tom Cowie, Ross Pape, 18:15), and then last year James Gibson took it down to 17:10 unsupported, that’s in the ballpark I expected a proper hill runner could be expected to finish. Personally, the Traverse was the single most fulling day I have had in the hills, my account is at https://aye.tf/2016/07/17/the-assynt-traverse-blow-by-blow-account/.
