@Pantangelini I think that your issue may be with @wjmaggos's position, not mine, I mostly agree. Although I thought that in the #HillsongChurch case they actually blamed the victim. But I don't know all the ins and outs, haven't watched the #Hulu documentary series yet

It is quite sad, and disappointing on #JohnMacArthur's part, as I've loved listening to his sermons over the years, but not all too surprising, as his church also demanded that a woman keep living with her husband who was abusing her children, and punished her for leaving with her children to safety, even after he was found guilty and arrested (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uK-slfhsgC4).

I am a #Christian, not a #Catholic, so I'm not too familiar with sexual abuse in the #Catholic church.

#HillsongChurch was once known as a place where A-listers went to say “Amen.” But in the wake of multiple #scandals involving #churchleaders and #controversy over some of its #beliefs, the global #megachurch is no longer a favorite among #celebrities — in fact, stars like #JustinBieber and #ChrisPratt have felt it necessary to publicly clarify that they do not associate with #Hillsong.

Are we the only people who never heard of the #hillsongchurch before the documentary? I had never heard of this international mega church... And I am still not sure why they are worthy of a documentary.

How many times must we hear such things about those in religious positions of power before we remove their charitable status and for e them to contribute to the care of those they harm, like we do, by paying tax?
