I love it when a student asks questions! Today during office hours I got to recommend websites for Qur'an, Tafsir, and historical geography (including #Pleiades, the World Historical Gazetteer, and my own #HIMME : https://medievalmideast.org )!

@telliott Applying for (repeatedly) and then securing the NEH grant opened my eyes to a number of differences between grant applications at elite schools that value the humanities and other institutions, ranging from my own school's self-sabotage (!) to grant application evaluation procedures that appear skewed to me. I'm very grateful for the NEH and what they do, especially for them enabling my #HIMME , but I do not anticipate getting another large external grant while here.
