@devlogic My account is through and described as compliant, but I'm skeptical.

With , microsoft, etc. adding , I'm getting less and less fond of cloud-based storage for our sensitive human-subjects research data. (And that's before adding in the environmental costs of the large server centers.)

Yet another disturbing example of how ties directly into . If the stores are collecting your info for Vaccine appointments or other health equipment and sending that data directly to , the cops can and will subpoena that data.
Rite Aid, Sam's Club, and Costco are all actively trying to get you killed/jailed for searching for medications.

@arstechnica from what I understand there are still many medical applications (mostly hardware ) that still use because getting a medical device recertified for compliance is way too expensive to waste on something like OS upgrades.

Of course when legal liability is the overriding concern, using a cracked algorithm is probably not an option πŸ™…

Google has a new service page on Google Analytics and HIPAA. Basically they cover the HHS bulletin and again state they do not want protected health information. They advise working with legal counsel to ensure you are not sending them protected health information.

πŸ‘‰ Healthcare sectors have to deal with highly sensitive data. A data breach can affect the organization's reputation and incur high costs.

E.g. A HIPPA violation can lead to a loss of $1.5 million yearly. And the healthcare provider is held responsible for data breaches in such cases.

Here are the eight tips you may follow for securing your data.

@evacide Even if a woman has been told by a healthcare provider (doctor or nurse) or by law enforcement that they have obtained her information legally, she or her family, should still file a complaint. Health care providers who may sympathize with law enforcement, or who just don't understand patient rights, may turn over information, no questions asked. HIPPA laws are confusing & next to impossible to understand.

@1finekitty The ONLY way any agency can learn what prescriptions a pharmacy is providing patients is to illegally breach a data base, the pharmacy or insurance provider provides private medical info to someone without patient, parent or guardian authorization, or by using a warrant signed by a legal authority.

Report breaches of your private info to HHS & instruct your medical providers, including pharmacies, that you will sue them.

There's no debate. Medical care is expensive. Having worked in a med practice for 20 yrs, I can say w/confidence, there is no reason to sign a consent/authorization form if you're paying cash for your care or care of your kids. You will be asked to sign a consent for treatment. So far in this country what occurs between a doctor & his/her patient is confidential in absence of a valid court order w/some exceptions. Don't let Ron DeSantis or any politician tell you how to parent your child

DeSantis & others are attacking people of all ages; recently, minors.

It's imperative that parents & their kids (age appropriate) understand what information their med providers are allowed to release, to whom & for what purpose. Some doctors may be conducting research & using info w/o telling you. Read what you sign.

regulations are VERY confusing & patients will "blindly" sign HIPPA forms every time they visit a new provider & at least annually

In the current social climate, it's important for anyone who may find themselves, or their kids, under the care of a medical professional to understand what is & what info is protected. Don't sign the consent form unless you know what info you are agreeing to release & to whom & for what purpose. What Ron DeSantis & other politicians are doing, or trying to do, to members of the community is illegal. It's important to understand your rights & protections.

@marie_ahoi I did my dissertation using spatial data but it involved mortality and in the US that's outside of IRB (for this analysis anyway). For our large study of ( ) though the participants are present and protected by so - higher standard. I think that going forward we'll pull all of the shape files, do all of our and other work before we even think about merging the spatial identifiers. Now what does THAT grant look like??!
