@Oldfart Thanks for your response to Jill Filipovic's argument. Perhaps you should inform yourself about the routineness with which doctors performed abortions for medical reasons in the past, with no legal restrictions and no sense that they were doing anything other than serving their Hippocratic Oath. I've read one medical diary after another kept by 19th-century rural US doctors, which casually mentions that they had performed an abortion for medical reasons.

Remember a rare visit to the theatre in London, think we went twice, the call came out, is there a doctor in the house. He didn't stir, he knew his limitations, stick to the good country folk of Shropshire. He could turn up at a night time call out with whisky on his breath and barely a murmur. Couldn't do that now.
