Finally got a copy of The Imagination Chamber by Phillip Pullman. It was difficult to find, no bookstore in here has it.

I love all the stories from His Dark Materials universe. Patiently waiting for Book of Dust 3.

Finally decided to watch season 3 of #HisDarkMaterials. I'm through episode 5 and I'm really impressed with the production quality. Also I'm finding it easier to follow than I did the book.

Finally finished HIs Dark Materials on Max. I have to admit, the ending got me a little. There are aspects of this story that I greatly appreciate as an atheist. I was checking out new arrivals on the video shelf at the library this week, and came upon something called His Dark Materials. I want to give a shout out to whoever picked it out. I have yet to finish it, but so far I have found it entertaining and engrossing. Not as dark as the title makes it sound, but in my opinion definately adult/teen appropriate only, due to some violence against children and (fake) animals. #dvdreview #hisdarkmaterials

Finished up HBO's His Dark Materials last night. I'm bowled over by Philip Pullman's world. I read the original trilogy in the early 2000's so I can't comment on the accuracy of the series as compared to the books, but I can say that I enjoyed every minute of the show.

His conception of Death as a being who enters this life with us, who remains our closest confidant through this life, and who finally ushers us out of life is brilliant.

Oh, bevor ichs vergesse: Selten habe ich eine Figur so sehr gehasst wie Mrs. Coulter & ihren Daemon. (Wieso spricht der eigentlich nicht?) Die gehört eindeutig in die Kategorie "Jeoffrey Lannister". Erwarte sehnsüchtig, dass sie irgendwann endgültig von der Bildfläche verschwindet. (Wie bei #GameOfThrones gibts auch in #HisDarkMaterials am Ende wohl niemanden mehr, der das Prädikat "gut" verdient hätte. Iorek vielleicht? Selten so eine Ansammlung kaputter ..., äh *grauer* Figuren erlebt.) [4/3]

So lässt man dann z.B. mit Dr. Malone eine der spannendsten Figuren ewig in der Gegend herumirren, ohne Plan & Plot, damit sie irgendwann - ex machina - etwas findet, das dann die ganze Story umwirft. Pure Verschwendung. Ich kann mir bei allem Respekt für die TV-Produktion nicht vorstellen, dass sie der Romanvorlage Pullmans mit all der in #HisDarkMaterials nur grob angerissenen Religions- und auch Gesellschaftskritik annähernd gerecht wird, habe aber keine Zeit, die auch noch zu lesen. Den Multiversen-Unsinn wird #HisDarkMaterials leider wegen der Vorlage nicht los und die Story wird zunehmend sprunghafter. Funktionierte Staffel eins noch wunderbar mit ihrer in sich geschlossenen Handlung, fühle ich mich seit Nr. 2 wie bei so vielen anderen Verfilmungen von literarischen Mammutwerken, die durch ihre Plotpoints und Figuren durchhetzen, ohne die Zuschauer durch die ganzen kleinen Zwischenschritte mitzunehmen, die zum Verständnis der Entwicklungen eigentlich nötig wären.

It's been a long long time since I read His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, but the three season series adaptation on BBC has been brilliant 🤩

Nearly finished with the second season, and thoroughly enjoying the nostalgic hit and cosy/adventure feeling, just like the books used to give me. Great cast too!

Bin nach den ersten paar Folgen ganz angetan von der #HisDarkMaterials-Serie bei HBO. Das Opening-Theme ist episch, die Geschichte ein düsterer Kampf gegen eine korrupte und faschistische Kirche, die Animationen der Seelentiere einfach großartig und detailverliebt (speziell bei Pantalaimon und Iorek). Ich warte allerdings noch immer auf einen Menschen mit einem aquatischen Begleiter (und könnte dafür echt auf diesen Multiversen-Quatsch mit den Portalen usw. verzichten - bislang völlig unnötig).

Dat wordt weer bingewatchen. De vorige series moet ik weer ophalen. Zal ik wachten tot donkere winternachten?
