Reading up on dual booting Android and Phosh. Let's see how far I get into booting postmarketOS on Hisense A9. First to port TWRP so I can root access from recovery, then partitioning, maybe create a script to auto setup this for anyone to enjoy.

We managed to crack Hisense A9 bootloader lock, and root over at XDA brainpower. Good old times of compiling AOSP and porting CyanogenMod (nowadays LineageOS).

Rumor has it that Hisense is downsizing the team behind these... it's a shame! Now debloated from Chinese specific apps and running Google Services.

We could also now port @postmarketOS 🤩. Would be interesting to see Gnome Mobile on eink!

Sounds like a weekend project 😁

I have several Firesticks and now two new TVs. Almost every remote has different quick buttons at the bottom that hard-map to apps. Even with two of the same model #FireStick, the remotes have diff app buttons. And you can’t program them at ALL on FireStick or #Hisense TVs, even with #ButtonRemapper. Even the cheap Chinese replacement remotes on Amazon have these locked in. What about if I don’t WANT button 4 to == Peacock? Sigh. #firstworldproblems

Oh and while I’m on it, remotes with rounded backs are BAD, mmkay? Amazon’s Alexa Remote Pro is well designed, feels good to hold and it has two programmable buttons - yay! - but it only works 100% with FireStick - boo!

Been hacking away Hisense A9, closer to bootloader unlock. Once done, Gnome Mobile on eink? Was able to find a firehose loader signed for this device, so EDL full access now.

Had to create my own USB-C EDL cable 😁
