Pictured: Sloss Furnace ironworks, in chiaroscuro black and white, originally on film. I photographed these about 20 yrs ago. The grounds are preserved as a historical site so they still look mostly exactly like this today.

Last year we went to the Daruma temple in Gumma! Daruma is an oval figure standing up even if you try to knock it down. It represents the effort to achieve a goal without giving up. People paint the pupil of one of his eyes when starting a challenge and the other when succeed. You must climb an insane amount of stairs to access the main building "without giving up"! Daruma is very loved in Japan!

I live in the mountains in the north west of Ireland, I #Garden 2 acres of soggy land and a further acre of my sister next door. I have 2 #Cats, a 7 year old and a 19 year old. I enjoy visiting and learning about #historicalSites. I like to keep up to date with #CurrentAffairs and #Politics. Sometimes put a brush to canvas #Art. Am slowly renovating my cottage as funds and time allow.
