Calling all #historicalarchaeologists and #animalhusbandry experts: Any thoughts on precisely what kind of animal bit this is? It certainly resembles horse bits illustrated in Ivor Noel Hume’s book, but the proportions seem off. Are there other types of bit that I should check? Any sources you have would be greatly appreciated. About 5 inches at its tallest point, but I’ll add precise measurements later. Please circulate.
