#Nuremberg's #SchembartCarnival, ("bearded-mask" carnival). Beginning in 1449, it was popular but ended in 1539 due to the complaints of an influential preacher named #Osiander who objected to his effigy playing backgammon surrounded by fools and devils.
Nobody knows why #Artichokes were popular. Are also suspect that #Osiander was hiding something. ;)

Thread 1. I never truly appreciated art or artists. I never fully appreciated the historical significance of portrait painting either, until I saw this one. When I traveled to London I made a point to stop at the National Gallery and look at it in person. Not even 5 years ago I would have walked right by if I even set foot in there.
