I can't believe I really had to switch from Google search to DuckDuckGo to find good references for Edwardian waistcoats.

Google kept insisting on showing me ads for "VICTORIAN STEAMPUNK VEST FOR SALE". And they weren't *technically* ads, but... A good portion of those "image" results were marked with a price tag. So modern productions..

Also some tips I found for filtering the bullshit:
Throw in a "-victorian -steampunk" and add "fashion plates". 😉

I never got reasonable photos of the finished thing that would show all the detail, but it is a pretty glorious ensemble.
The skirt of the riding jacket hides the piecing of the petticoat and it has a million fabric covered buttons. I like the fichu I made for it, it is tiny yellow flowers on a cream background.

To motivate myself to do a tedious part of a new sewing project, place your gaze upon these WIP shots of my 1780s or so Redingote that I sewed entirely by hand.

I was planning to just do the redingote but then figured I could also do a matching petticoat from the scraps of fabric that I cut out because they took the dye unevenly. I managed the entire petticoat with just an unreasonable amount of piecing, and I almost got the stripes to match on it!

My cheats easy to make #costuming post of the day ,for a medieval high waisted gown ,both the ones from N Europe with henins or the more elaborate Italian styles ,like those in the movie #everafter ,all of them can be made with no pattern and no sewing skills and from things like curtains (the blue dress is old curtains and I used an old faux fur hat used for fur trim ,the tall pointy Henin is made from a cardboard box :) #larp #medieval #fancydress #renfair #historicalcostume

A very short costuming post on making caps and coifs and cauls ,I thought the Christmas theme days are approaching for #schools and #reenactors ,these are incredibly easy tne mittle mob caps take minutes even hand sewn .coifs abnout half an hour and can be made from anything sheets, cushion covers, beaded evening tops etc
