Today was spent at my local games show, Border Reiver. Seemed relatively busy, traders I spoke to were happy. Some good games on display. Met and chatted with a lot of people. Managed to only buy some C17th civilians, a big SYW kettle drummer, and a couple of brushes.

All in all, a good day.

Three toots in a day! Prepped the next 16 Forged in Battle Pikemen. May not get them painted until post holiday but hopefully I can prime then tomorrow.

And Henry Hyde's new book arrived today as well. Had the PDF for a week but wanted the hardback. Some nice illustrations and a great insight into running an Imagination campaign. Plus there are pictures of me and my toys...

Also in shot is the banner for my first regiment. Have photocopied the banner for O’Cahan’s from the #WarlordGames leaflet (great wee extras aren’t they?) and did a bit of editing, then pva’d it crunched it, and highlighted parts with paint.

Final snaps of the first regiment of Montrose Irish. These we’re extremely good fun to paint. They’re characterful and charming miniatures. The mismatched nature of them made it engaging to work through and the command miniatures were just all the above x10.

Two wings of Irish Musketeers now finished. So now onto the pike block. I got it started with a treat of working on the Captain. Managed to get into halfway into a rank of pikes as well. Enjoying painting historics for change. Utterly enthralled by reading about Montrose and Mac Colla and the Irish Brigades. So a very nice all encompassing project.

Hoping I can get the Iceni rebels in 2mm done for #StrengthAndHonour before Vapartnak at the start of February. Mostly so I can justify buying a bunch of Baccus' 6mm samurai.
Thinking Warhammer Ancients is probably a decent system for bigger scale Sengoku period battles. Anyone got any other suggestions?

Trying out Valour & Fortitude at the Wargames Club this week (featuring my incredibly unpainted 28mm 1815 Naps).
Fun things that happened this week:
1) My opponent's cavalry refusing to charge twice out of two attempts
2) My carabiniers charging on from off the board, into a squadron of Scots Greys, whiffing every attack, and getting immediately routed

Progress continues on the 2mm Romans for Strength & Honour! Everything, including the marching camp is now based. Needs a couple of patches filling tomorrow, but should be able to get them sprayed and start on painting the ground pretty quickly!
