Fort Macon is a Civil War era fortress located on Bogue Banks, a barrier island along along the North Carolina coast. Construction began on the brick and earth structure in 1826. My #SilentSunday contribution. I found this sign in tiny Denmark, TN, on a trail behind the historic Denmark Presbyterian Church. Apparently, female academies were quite popular in this era. Just made a quick stop at the Desert Inn Bar and Restaurant or… what’s left of it at Jackass Crossing or Yeehaw Junction. Unfortunately it’s abandoned after a truck crashed into the building in 2019. Luckily we brought our own beverages.
