A flurry of posts back in Jan and then again in Apr but I think I need to weave this platform more solidly into my existence. I really want to see more folks take up #HistoryComics too, while I'm at it.
Love teaching my "Graphic World" class (essentially comics class). I gave them some 1920s era #HistoryComics yesterday to deconstruct. Even though none of them are history majors they really got into it! Tomorrow we start working on Auca. I wonder if they will throw things at me when I tell them I expect them to translate them... (yay for google translate!)
I suspect, but can't prove (largely because I don't read/speak Japanese) that there are kibyĆshi examples of historical narratives. To my thinking these should count as #HistoryComics . I'm thinking more about non-fiction historical narratives. Is there any chance anyone can point me in the right direction for looking into this? I'm particularly interested in pre-WWI examples. #japodon #comics

Building on earlier toot about #HistoryComics, an example & ? . 1924-1942, J. Carroll Mansfield, penned _High Lights of History_ in the US. The strips / full page comics ran across North America & were syndicated beyond. This era saw the publication of a LOT of this kind of comic; depicting &telling a non-fiction historical narrative. Does anyone know of any "home grown" Australian examples like this, in the era? 1928, Mansfield in Australia example: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/122817832

So, as I say I'm really interested in #HistoryComics, in particular those that were created before 1940. I have a fairly extensive list from the US, some from Canada, a few from the UK, as well as French examples, and Catalan #Auca which I think qualify. I would be shocked if similar (content, not necessarily style) examples cannot be found in Germany, Japan, Italy, etc. Does anyone happen to know of any? Or any #Archives (Newspapers/Magazine) I could dig through?

Hello All. New instance, so new intro? I'm a #histodon working in #WorldHistory, #Nationalism history, and #ComicsHistory. My research focus is the #MidEast at the intersection of #BritishImperialism. Current work is looking at #HistoryComics and #Islam in Comics.
