Polish typography history (and Polish design history) in 2 pictures. Both inscriptions come from Polish buses, Jelcz. The initial letter designs (those descending downwards) were created in the 1950s, while the second ones were introduced in the 1970s. The difference in creativity is clearly evident.
The 50s design is simply beautiful , but I couldn't help but wonder what on earth happened with the 70s version.

#industrialheritage #historyofdesign #primaryforms I got to go in the Catcliffe Cone today. This is their first open day - apparently it's the oldest #glass kiln in Europe to still be standing. Many rumours surround it, none can be substantiated. Were prisoners of war once kept here? Was the #stone at the base from the same quarry that supplied Westminster Palace? Why can nobody find any of the glass that was made here?
