From a case study in Terman and Miles's "Sex and Personality" -- the 1936 handbook of their infamous Male-Female test. I'm sure the reason why this gay man wanted to go work in the lumber camps was because he was "resolutely determined to become more masculine." 🤣

Before celebrating #TDOV tomorrow, we wanted to turn the focus of this week’s #ThrowbackThursday to the book Trans and Genderqueer Subjects in Medieval Hagiography through our interview with Alicia Spencer-Hall and Blake Gutt
‘Trans and genderqueer people have always been here. We have a history – no, we have histories, plural. We have ancestors, we have roots, our humanity cannot be denied.’ - Spencer-Hall (1/2)

Beginning of sabbatical: back to my food and sex book manuscript this morning. Hoping to finish a first draft by the end of summer. I abandoned the ms in the fall because I had assigned myself too much work in my classes. It's always hardest getting started again. Wish me luck! #foodhistory #historyofsexuality @histodons

I'm trying to read Foucault's The History of Sexuality: Volume 1 because he's cited so often in the other books I've been reading, but my gosh this section on power is long. I feel like I'm reading Victor Hugo's long musings on Paris sewers. It's long and I've already forgotten how it's relevant to the rest of the book. I'm usually a fast reader, but I'm getting lost here.
