A is for Ox: A Short History of the Alphabet by Lyn Davies.
Slipcase edition by #TheFolioSociety, 127 pages from 2006.
Tiny book in a pretty format. There was no ISBN for this edition, but I also bought it second hand and it might’ve had it originally in a separate packaging, maybe. A short history of the evolution of the writing systems. What we currently call an “alphabet” starts midway through the book.

We learned about the #historyofwriting and how #tokens and #envelopes led to a counting system that led to writing. Denise Bessart-Schmidt is responsible for this discovery and the research associated with it.
