Did a three year drought help cause the end of the Hittites around 3000 years ago? I found this a useful commentary. TL;DR maybe, but there was also a megadrought. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-00390-w
And yes, we should expect more and more severe megadroughts with climate change.
