@ManyRoads yeah, the latest theory, in super short, is that climate changes, maybe by volcanic eruptions caused famine and violent mass migration of what we call the , which in turn devastated all civilisations in the late bronze age causing the collapse of civilisation.

On the other hand, it seems like Nefertiti probably ruled as King of Egypt (as Smenkhkare) for a couple of years after the death of Akhenaten. This would have have provided both the authority needed to send such a message to the Hittites as well as enough time for the messages to go back and forth.

Anyway, that’s my hot take for the day.
