OK. I think I've nailed my reference model. I will do another shot at it, but this time to completion - which includes streaking grime and basing. But this will be my master reference for coloration.

Not a mini, but in the spirit of taking #HiveFleetLotan seriously, I'm making myself a #ZornPalette reference.

Sure I could look one up, but pretty sure none of them are using Citadel paints for mixing. This way I have a map to navigate the colorspace and how to get where I want to go when mixing paints.

I am refining the colors a bit more to get a feel for what mixes I should use. It would've been a great time to keep track of my mixing, but I got in a flow and forgot...

Regardless, I've got the red and "blue" zeroed in. The yellow-green carapace could be a bit more yellow to match the reference art. I also think the bone I'm going to push more toward white.
