Time to celebrate! This is the first day in a week I've not needed Benadryl to cope with the itching from #hives. Hopefully this is a good turning point. I just need to wait for my brain to recover from the Benadryl fog and then figure out how I'm going to catch up for the weeks worth of usefulness I've lost. :(

😲 It was late March 2015 when the first hive showed up.
It had been a stressful season of my life and I chalked my skin's inflammation up to stress.

The #swarm was still in the nuc box 24 hours later. I just now transferred them into an 8 frame box with a couple of frames of brood and honey from one of my stronger #hives. Also put an entrance limiter and a feeder with simple syrup. The entrance limiter helps them keep robbers away. A LOT of #bees in this swarm and I think they can handle any intruders. #beekeeping #honey #DallasTX also— they are definitely NOT a swarm from any of my hives. These bees are much friendlier than any of mine.

Just been to check up on the #bees we look after. Both colonies going strong. The smell of #honey when we opened the lids of the #hives was nearly overpowering.🤞for the spring and summer.

Setting up to split 2 #hives today. I saw some drones and am hopeful they’re ready to make some new queens. (I gave away 4 hives last year. If you live away from #DallasTX along the I-35 corridor and think you want #bees let me know.)

@nicksanspasty I keep #honey #bees in #Warwickshire and have seen my #hives active in December, January and now February. Whilst it seems nice to see the bees, I don't think it is a good sign as it suggests a change in the #environment that may not suite our local British honey bees. If the bees are flying they need food and if the local flora is not providing enough nectar and pollen they may struggle to survive.

Keeping a careful watch for any #drones. Only see the girls bringing lots of pale yellow pollen. I want to split both of these really strong #hives as soon as there’s drone activity. (I gave away 3 splits last Summer from these outstanding #queens and about 60lbs of #honey.) #bees #beehives #DallasTX If you’re in #AustinTX or away from Dallas along the I-35 corridor and think you might like some bees, let me know.

Recovering today from some kind of food-related allergic reaction yesterday afternoon. Hives! Itchiness! Aches and pains! It was the worst. My wife actually was recently diagnosed with Alpha Gal Syndrome. My food intake yesterday makes me think maybe I’m afflicted, too. Bloodwork next. Damn these ticks! I ate my dinner last night and before long I had hives (Urticaria) everywhere. All I can think of was some green chilli I cooked in a ratatouille. Is this likely? Anyone else have a similar response? I know Brazil nuts give me hives. I'm so itchy it's driving me insane.
