@drmikepj There is reason to believe that every #glacier can #surge, given the conditions are right. In #HMA a large number of them has been discovered over the last two decades which was rather unthinkable before 2000. The problem - as so often - is our rather limited time of observations: a few decades of satellite observations to observe surges with quiescent phases of often half a century or more.
