1/8 Today was my first meeting with a new psych from #HMO, whom I was referred to after my plea to mental healthcare mgmt. My hope was that this was going to be a discussion leading to formal #assessment, but this doesn’t seem to be the case so far.

Within the first 20 minutes, I was told it’s common for parents to erroneously self-diagnose. He felt the same way after caring for his AuDHD child, he said.

I have skin cancer, at least a doctor who looked at a picture was convinced enough to think I needed a referral.

Not being able to get an appointment with my PCP until 7/11 (California says 10 business days), I attempted to use my insurance plan's self referral option. The dermatologist refused and point the finger at Blue Shield.

Blue Shield was very helpful confirming that the dermatologist was in error but unable to convince them. They are now working to get me a PCP appointment.

1/2 Progress! Took me a while to build up the #spoons to chase down the #HMO for myself, rather than for my son. But I have an appt for 23rd and begin my journey! I guess doing fully #unfiltered and #unmasked with their manager and openly laying out all the crap that’s built up and ongoing left them without any retort as to why they thought, “they’ve survived this long, what good would this do?”

Well yay me. I’ve finally built up the #spoons to seek help for myself with our #HMO, and placed a call to get back in touch after my last contact with them. It’s been months, since I had to focus my attention to getting my son’s stuff worked out. Waiting for callback.

Interestingly, it unlocked my #blocks on making headway on some other things at home too. I’m trying not to go crazy and going into #overload.

Of the two to three times I go to the #hmo each year, it's guaranteed that when I bring my #insurance #card they don't want it. And when I don't, they do. And I refuse to carry another piece of plastic all year, for those one or two cases.

Son’s been getting easily #escalated at #school and problem #behaviors returning rapidly. Expecting another #rejection in form of #placement #referral. Got #meds appt with #hmo and hope to #moderate the escalations (#anxiety, #stress). I pray it’s enough, because even the happy and supposedly helpful #NPS has gone straight to #pathologizing behavior and not talking about causes. #actuallyautistic @actuallyautistic
