Creek fishing with a 7' fiberglass 3 weight. I also caught a smallmouth bass.

This stocker is a holdover from the winter. He doesn't look too good, and this Ohio creek has probably been too warm and muddy for him all summer.

He was a little too big for my net and ended up on the ground. As a rule, I don't pause to photograph fish that have had a rough landing, but things didn't go wrong here until the phone was already in my hand.

The Hocking River in Athens Ohio. We caught more kinds of fish last night than in the rest of the trip combined. The Hocking is a tributary of the Ohio, and we were fishing just below the first obstruction to fish swimming upstream.

Caught my first White Bass on the Hocking River. Landed him right after sunset. I used a 200 gr OPST head with a 5 foot floating polyleader on a 4 wt Reddington butterstick v3. The fly is visible in the corner of its mouth.

This was a shot I got at the Bigfoot Festival in Logan this weekend. I took a bunch and didn't have to do much slider work here. Cropped most of the people out but tried not to chop the bigfoot. The original picture has more lower too.

2023 Photo Challenge 44/365
Last gem before going back to the photo sorting. This cabin had a nice hand painted sign. I wasn't sure what was going to be good what was going to flop so I took a few of everything while I was there. Used the sliders to make the cabin feel a little cooler outside and in other pictures warmer inside.

A panorama of about 4 shots from a cabin view. I didn't like how monotone the hibernating trees looked, but still tried. When I went in and made the panorama I started to see the potential. I am looking forward to seeing this view in the Spring, Summer, or Fall and will try to make an effort to come back for some more vivid shots.

This was nice shot of a darker interior. Tried to make it feel warmer by playing into the oranges and reds from the wood and lighting in the cabin. This was one of those shots that I got to really see the power of the Adobe Camera Raw sliders.

Handshot. Tripod next time. Capturing the view from a porch swing as you looked out on the beauty of nature. Been living in the city far too long and miss views like this. Due to hand held I had to crank up the ISO that put noise in the top left so I had to tighten the crop. Still a good test shot for next time.

This is a single shot. Next time I will try an HDR with a tripod and trigger. During editing I remembered my prof saying, "Expose for the highlights and develop for the shadows." I didn't get it in class and may be misusing it here but it felt like it clicked cause I saw what I could get the photo to do for me.

This is from the Hocking Hills State Park. My girlfriend was nice enough to sit on that freezing rock! Portraits are not my forte. The shadows and lack of equipment made for a little bit of blur. I did an HDR shot as well combining two shots to try to prevent blowouts. Can't wait to do this more!

2023 Photo Challenge 35/365
Today I got to take some shots and wanted to share them instead of waiting. My picture doesn't do this justice do the the range of exposure required from bright sun spots to dark shadows. I did a 2 shot HDR merge to get something presentable. Made some tweaks to levels, temp, then added a vignette to try to keep focus on the center.
