Waited a week to try once again to feed my #hognose #snake... After a full year of not eating (and me having to force feed him once a week with a long tube and protein mix) he suddenly and spontaneously ate an entire six pack of fuzzies (five days apart). Then when I had to start a new pack, he stubbornly refused the first last week, so I've waited a week to try again. I don't have much confidence though.

Literally nothing changed between the mouse he ate and this one except that it's a new six pack (with the same branding so I assume same manufacturer but maybe not). Guess I gotta go back to force feeding again.

Stupid stubborn fucker. If he was in the wild he'd just be dead.

partner had successful surgery (yay) and we settled in to relax and then my smallest and least capable son got stuck behind his enclosure backdrop so we had to make him an exit path. because of course he would find a way back there 😆

I really really really love snakes, especially the Plains Hognose Snake. Just look at the little snoot. So boopable. So cuddly. I just want blow it a kiss. They're just so magical too. I feel such a deep connection to them when I watch videos and see pictures. Makes my witchy little heart just have its pinky wrapped around this danger noodle's heart.

I still can't believe my spicy little guy has eaten TWO MICE IN A ROW ❤️❤️❤️ you guys know what an ordeal it's been for over a year, having to force feed him weekly since he was starving himself to death... Over $1000 spent at the exotic animals vet... I'm scared to hope this might be the end of it, but oh my God not having to force feed him makes me SO HAPPY, it's a stressful situation for us both every time 😭 I'm still just doing fuzzies every five days or so, I'm scare he'll reject a hopper even though based on his width that's supposed to be what he's up to... His skin doesn't sag anymore but I'd still like to plump him up a bit, especially in winter. He used to be a lot more passive once picked up but he puffs up the whole time now, probably assuming I'm gonna force feed him again 😅 he's the most difficult reptile I've ever had... All the cornsnakes, leopard geckos and alligator lizards were easy peasy compared to him. But he's such a cutie, it's hard to stay mad. Dumb lil murder noodle ❤️
