The beginning of Ronnie Gilbert and Holly Near's collaborations together was fittingly filmed for the Weavers' reunion at Carnegie Hall. Ronnie later describes the difficulty in getting the men of the Weavers interested in including songs about women, including Hay Una Mujer Desaparacida, in her autobiography published shortly before her death in 2016.
