Last Bowl of the season (for us). West Coast premiere of Attention! (A narrative song cycle for extroverted mandolinist and orchestra) by Chris Thile (of Nickel Creek). It was, to have to find some human word for it, transcendental. I don’t know if this will be performed elsewhere, but if you see it coming to a venue near you, snap up tickets as soon as you can. #HollywoodBowl #ChrisThile #LAPhil

I also had a ton of fun with the picnic this time. If you are ever at a loss for a rabbit hole to go down, try searching for “2001 Space Odyssey” and “food” - there are theories out there, people. Epic, epic theories about the food in 2001. The menu:

I had been so looking forward to last night’s concert at The Bowl, and it did not disappoint. It was a screening of 2001: A Space Odyssey with live orchestra and choir doing the score. I had expected it to be good (it’s the LA effing Phil, of course it will be good!) but a thing I didn’t expect was how much having real live human voices - people making sounds with their bodies in proximity to my body - supercharged the whole thing. #LosAngeles #HollywoodBowl

Saw Barbie movie this weekend, really enjoyed it & I now get the Kenough and other jokes i’ve been seeing online.

Also went to the Everybody Rise! Sondheim celebration thing last night at the Hollywood Bowl. The concert was cool. The audience, mainly the people sitting next to me who almost got into a fight with the people on the other side of them, not so much. Lol

Lots of folks came in costumes, t-shirts, and with props from popular films with music from the maestro. Schindlers List was hauntingly sad. Indiana Jones was fun. The Star Wars Imperial March was awesome. The audience wielded lightsabers with gusto during the Star Wars tunes. No Harry Potter or Jaws music was a little disappointing tbh.
