Alexander 'Greek' Thomson's absolutely stunning Holmwood House on the southside of Glasgow.
Built in 1857 for paper magnate James Couper, this shows 'Greek' Thomson's true genius, and has elements which seem to be echoed in Charles Rennie MacKintosh's designs for domestic houses almost half a century later.
