I was in a computer repair shop today, when I noticed this wallpaper. OBVIOUSLY I immediately thought it was a holy well, so upon my return, I looked it up and discovered it to be a wine cellar! I have no idea of its age, or any other information than this: https://peapix.com/bing/42710 I still think it's a holy well. Convince me otherwise. 😜
St. Leonard's Well, Dunster. The lane up to it was very wet even after some time without rain. It is very green!
A small 14th or 15th century building stands over it but the water is not now used. The well may have been the water supply for Dunster Priory and also may have filled the arched water-trough in the south wall of the churchyard there. It is mentioned in deeds of 51 Edward III and 14 Henry IV.

I must remember, when I get the urge to drink from holy wells (you know what I'm like, ffs) that some new age folk like to skinny dip in them, or bathe their feet. I reconcile it by telling myself the water is constantly renewing due to its very nature, so any arse, bawbag or feet residue should be long gone. #holywells
I forgot to mention holy wells in my bio! Just added it. Wonder if there's already a #holyWells hashtag?
Anyway. Big fan of 'em. Website in eternal progress: https://oldwells.co.uk
