Wednesday’s #ImageOfTheDay. Today is #HolyInnocentsDay. The 16th century #Coventry Carol commemorates the Massacre of the Innocents, Herod’s slaughter of male infants in Bethlehem under the age of two after the birth of Jesus. The lullaby is sung by the children’s mothers. These are the ruins of #CoventryCathedral. The carol was sung here at a BBC broadcast at #Christmas 1940, a few weeks after the city was bombed by the Luftwaffe.
