Yesterday I received a 1U patch panel that takes keystone jacks to use in my #HomeLab. After mounting it in my rack, I’m pretty stoked about the tidiness this is going to enable. This one panel will let me cleanly manage Ethernet cables right along side the HDMI, USB C, & USB A cables going to a #RaspberryPi running #HomeAssistant. I’m even able to use a spot in the same panel for the SC/APC fiber cable going to my AT&T modem.

I'm a #sysadmin, #gamedev hobbyist, perpetual #Blender student, and #homelabber from the Southeast US.

I've never really cared for social media until I found Mastodon. It reminds me of the old bulletin board days. Your local Mastodon server is like your favorite BBS within your area code. Federated instances are like BBSes in another state (except it doesn't cost $1.50/min to browse them).

I probably just dated myself pretty badly with that analogy.

Why does #HP have to be so #authoritarian about firmware?

I've got a DL80Gen9 and a couple of Aruba switches that I can't download firmware for.
The Aruba switches, because I don't want to use my work email for personal things, and the DL80 because HP won't let you download firmware updates for ANYTHING if it's not under a #support #contract.
It's almost like HP wants the internet to be full of botnets. I don't understand why a company would deny a #homelab owner the ability to update firmware in order to keep things safe and up to date. #Hewlett_Packard_Enterprise cannot possibly be THAT hungry for cash that they need to charge a #homelabber THOUSANDS of DOLLARS just to #download an .iso or a #firmware package.
Seriously #hewlett_packard ... WTELF?
