Home ec and shop classes are disappearing and even the schools that still offer them have limited spaces. Understandably our schools are focusing on college prep, but that means every life skill you don't teach them is a life skill they'll have to outsource or teach themselves!

So teach yourself, teach your friends, and for goodness sake teach your children.

Among today's mysteries is why one of my younger sisters rearranged a laundry room cupboard so that the door didn't close.

The cupboard holds Magic Erasers and glass cleaner, neatly in rows. There was no need to rearrange it to get at either -- just grab the front one.
