While it’s a favorite trail for the spring wildflowers that vibrantly paint these hillsides, winter’s colors come from the lichen clinging to the rocks.

We finished framing this big piece today (at Nevada Fine Arts in Reno). This flag has 36 stars which is significant to Nevadans as we were the 36th state admitted to the Union on October 31, 1864. For context, the Civil War ended on April 9, 1865. The 36 star flag was flown for 23 months when Nebraska became the 37th state admitted to the Union on March 1, 1867. There was no information on where this flag was originally flown.
