I can't reach one of my servers from WiFi when upstairs. Downstairs everything is fine. Over Ethernet everything is fine too.

Access to other servers or the internet works up- and downstairs.

First box of goodies from FS has arrived. Time to fibre up the place. 😬

Tech question. I have an older non-wifi USB printer. Can I just plug it into a USB port on my router and find it on the network wifi from our laptops?

Part 2- if not, what is the most reliable wifi printer as far as maintaining a stable connection? I’ve given up on my Epson at work and plugged it in.

I need a robust solution for my non-tech spouse and no longer have a connected computer to share from when I’m gone with my MBP.

The #Dell5060 "Thin Client" I have been running as a sort of in-between server the past few weeks continues to impress. It's been everything like a champ.

Only when I run a full library scan in PhotoPrism do I really push it to its limits. I mostly only moved PhotoPrism on there just to see if it would even run as-is with #Podman, and it absolutely does.

If you're planning on using these thin clients I'd recommend a separate one for something like PhotoPrism, of course.

Little Netgear GS605 network hub had been rock solid for years. Suddenly could only connect at lower speeds to my switch. Was about to replace it with a spare when I noticed (by accident) the cable in the power brick wasn't plugged in all the way. Corrected that and it works again as it should.

Lesson learned: not only check your network cables/connections, but also the power supply. 😀

Time to replace one of the none NAS grade drives on the home NAS. Really should have gone with them from the start, the desktop drives were just not up to the job, have way higher latency scores, and click a whole lot more.
Also taking the chance to replace with higher capactiy, so when they are all done I can expand the pool.

My FingBox failed today after 5 years... Not sure why...

Rearranged my home network and FingBox freaked out and refused to re-activate with never-ending flashing green lights...

Tried all the standard stuff to fix...

Just as well... It was not a trouble free 5 years either but it usually worked...

Time to modernize the protection anyway...
