My brother was ranting over the phone about a part that came without mounting screws. When he called the vendor, they told him the mounting screws were an extra purchase, which just made him madder.

I'm going through my junk in the garage, and appalled by all the stuff that was included in a purchase and was never used. Every kind of computer cable you could imagine. Power bricks. Covers. Sticky rubber feet. Gaskets and washers. And lots and lots of mounting screws.

And pop rods. I've replaced a lot of plumbing in 33 years of home ownership, and never once had to replace a pop rod. But everything that resembles a drain or faucet comes with one.

So... does anyone need a pop rod? I have plenty.

i think - THINK! - we have finally defeated the damage and stains on the bedroom ceiling from when the roofers failed to tarp on tearoff 2 years ago and it rained.

the rough patches are smoother and the whole affair has 2 coats of BLOCK-IT primer.

So my LG washer which is only a half dozen years old or so, but has had a lot of exercise with three kids, started making a lot of noise during the spin cycle. Almost deafening now. I decided the issue was the bearings and ordered a new set several weeks ago. Today is the day to try to fix it. The only thing I have determined so far from reading, is that these puppies are no where near as serviceable as the old top loading ones were. We'll see how this goes. #LG #DIY #HomeRepair

The stairs I've been trying to build are absolutely not working, so I'm going to need to get a scaffold to get up to the roof top, through the hatch hole I've made, to make the roof repairs. The scaffold is going to cost about $200.

As I'm disabled as is my husband, who'll likely be getting cataract surgery soon, I am doing this on my own, hence the need for more tools and equipment.

Time for another repair...

The bearing on the drain pump went out on the washing machine. The dark streak is where water leaked out. Because it couldn't spin, water seeped out of the casing while the washer tried to empty.

The good thing is that this machine is very repairable, unlike new ones.

We had a flood in our basement last week because of a busted water heater. The basement was taking a long time to dry out we had a bunch of fans going. Just got the call from my son that the carpet is completely covered in mold. So my evening will be spent demolding my basement. #homeRepair #diy
