The one caution I’ll offer is that decaf can often Rich from 1st crack to 2nd crack, making it harder to nail a light/medium roast. So I usually do like you & roast to start of 2nd for decaf.
Also, yes- it’s good to let them rest to degass, but I’m often too impatient. Just give it longer for the bloom phase if you’re doing a pourover…
