It is VERY surprising, in a newly completed soundproofed home studio room, how 'freeing' vocally I have become in terms of power and completely losing the subconscious holding back for fear of upsetting my neighbours.
I've only been back to my daily practice routine now for four days, but my oh my, how I can let go completely!!
I feel complete freedom to let rip with the total my lungs can produce, its invigorating!

Want backing vocals in your track? Want it to sound like a choir? When engineers record real choirs they typically use 2 mics at most. Simulate this by standing in different places away from the mic and recording those vocals.
It'll simulate the way vocalists individual voices interplay with a room's sound and the effect on their distance to the mic.

If you want a track to sound old, nostalgic, retro, you can use any old tape recorder. Old dictaphones are great for this
Take your track & add a sound at the very beginning of the stem (like a clap) as this will help you align later.
Press record on the tape first. Hold it by the speakers. Press play on a solo'd track. Rerecord the line out or use a mic on the internal speaker for more grunge!

Like the sound of a room or stairwell? Want to recreate that in your DAW? Take a recorder (can even be your phone for added effect), stand a few feet away from it and clap your hands as quick and loud as you can.
Now import that clap sound into a convolution reverb effect. It should give you a nice approximation.

Put a multiband compressor on bass guitar to even out that playing and get the tonal range smooth in a mix.

Tried out the Strat today & really liked it. Easy to play & no issues with strings being too tight. Neck also seemed a bit heavier than most Fenders I’ve experienced.
So decided to try something when I got home. Pulled out my Carparelli Infiniti guitar that I picked up through a GoFund me thing Mike was running in 2015. Actually plays similar to the Fender, no issues with strings. So I’m re-recording all the guitar parts - again. 🙄

This was my first time shooting with a dslr. I set up an inexpensive Christmas ornament with a tea candle back light. The reflection was achieved by lightly misting a table with water.

Old ceiling ripped down - ✅
floor insulation and damp course - ✅
screed floor laid and dried out - ✅
todays works - Install two lintels in existing double skin block work for new double doorway into existing hallway in house.
hopefully open up the full doorway hole as well.
Will try and get a video up with some WIP footage. (bit difficult to film as I'm still a full time IT employee)
