I commented recently on how annoyed I was at theatres trying to convince me I wanted to be there for "the experience" when I had already paid for said ticket. This is the other experience we're getting by going back to public spaces: other people. "Why is everyone using their phones in movie theaters?" below begs the question, "why didn't I just wait and watch this at home in peace?"

... no, it was not a better experience than watching at home. I have a large screen in my living room and a 4k DLP projector. I have a well-balanced 7.1 audio system and comfy couch. More importantly, I don't get to listen to 200 other people chewing popcorn at home.
How do I feel about my $18.75 ticket to see Tom in IMAX? I should've just waited and bought the movie on Blu-Ray. Better investment. YMMV.

I just saw a trailer on TV for a movie channel that is promoting a movie from 2011. It reminded me that that was the last year I saw a movie in a movie theatre... and I don't for a second feel like I am missing out on a thing.
