Rumor is that Mastodon quietly increased the limit of the amount of posts that can load on one's timeline to 800 at a time. Has anyone noticed a difference? I think it still needs to be much higher. Anyone with me?

Several times a day, I turn off #Boosts and #Replies in my #HomeTimeline so I can read and interact directly with the original content of the people I #follow.

@Eramdam Comprehensive results would be expensive to compute, but there's already a random sorting option. I'd like a random+ option which fetches e.g. 10 random follows and shows me only the 1 most active poster, or something like that.

Am I the only one who thinks the biggest problem with mastodon is the 400 post limit on your home timeline?

I have tried a ton of things, but I consistently get frustrated by this limit.

I keep on thinking that this may also be restricting engagement.

I really think this is top priority, but I don't know if there are any easy solutions, or if it even possible with the fediverse's operating model.

Probably not possible on the #HomeTimeline.

Why if you go to your #mastodon #profile and click on "Posts" does it show things you have boosted, if the thing you #boost are not posted on the local timeline, but only appear on the #hometimeline of your followers? Is this incorrect naming and misleading? Is that why some think that boosted things appear on the home timeline? Why cannot one boost to a home timeline? I thought the whole point of computers was to make things possible? #tootorial

We know, we know! But just in case 🤓

When you see an #introduction it seems helpful to #boost it. That way folks can find their kindred spirits and enjoy #community and #conversation right on their #HomeTimeline and eventually the #connections between people will be thriving.

I mostly walk, but occasionally bike to change the scenery.

#federatedtimeline is my #hometimeline if i was following everyone on mastodon! 🤯

@Saffron I still hop on, but as of this morning mostly search specific hashtags on Federated. Filters help make things more manageable. But for just hanging out for a bit to visit, the home timeline seems to be more than adequate. I curate what goes into my head.

How to identify the most active accounts I follow, so I can follow their blog's RSS instead, move them to an alt account or whatever?

I (un)follow, (un)mute and (un)filter liberally. With a limit of 400 posts in the #Mastodon #HomeTimeline,* of which I see about 30 % in the web client, I can only see few hours of posts.

@dbx Klar, in #Tusky kann ich auch beliebig weiter zurück gehen. Nur im Browser (aufm Rechner) nicht.

Es ist nur die #Hometimeline, die Probleme macht. In der lokalen und föderierten Timeline kann ich praktisch unendlich scrollen.

Was unterscheidet die drei? Sicher nur Datenbankabfragen... 🤔

Mein Problem mit der #Startseite / #Hometimeline in #Mastodon hat nichts mit der #Arkenfox user.js zu tun. Gerade mit Ungoogled Chromium ohne Addons getestet. Pi-Hole ist daran auch nicht beteiligt. Hab meinen Rechner mal kurz von den Adlists befreit und dann nochmal mit Ungoogled Chromium getestet.

Gleiches Ergebnis: Ich kann in der Hometimeline nur ca. 4 Stunden zurückgehen (Firefox und Chromium) 😳
