stupid server tricks, fail edition: trying to use #HomeAssistant to push a change to my thermostat via the #honeywell integration - it appears to really want the thermostat to have preset modes to invoke (mine doesn't). Direct temp changes to entity via automation don't have the right controls (separate temp changes for heat and cool when it's in auto), the one in scenes seems broken b/c it won't actually accept the settings I put in (keeps reverting/getting corrupted in the control itself)

I have the #Honeywell #ZWave thermostat integrated with #HomeAssistant. Since it's ZWave it's all local and works really well!

@agturcz @jan I'm also curious what thermostat you are using. I have a #Honeywell smart thermostat that I was able to integrate into #HomeAssistant but it still relies on the internet. I've been tempted to switch it out with a #ZigBee thermostat with total local control.

Anyone else out there having trouble with the #honeywell #evohome app for heating control? Ours has been playing up for a few days now: seems to be reporting room temps properly, but not set points. Any attempt to change set points or schedules doesn’t seem to get passed to the controller 🤨

So anyway our #Honeywell #humidifier (made by the same company that owns #Vicks now, but I thought it would be better quality because Honeywell seems like it would be better than Vicks) that just arrived five hours ago started leaking already.

We’ll, I guess it’s time for an #introduction.

I’ve been a professional developer for just shy of 50 years now. From writing support software for #GPS and helping to design a candidate language for the #Ada competition at my first job to developing learning apps for early childhood in #Swift at Learning Touch, I’ve pretty much seen it all.

I guess my two favorite endeavors were working at #MIT and #Honeywell on #Multics and then at #Symbolics on #Genera.

I’ll have more to say soon.

Official Honeywell APP displaying current system state has the same behaviour so it may be some problem with data send from main unit to Honeywell. Anyway - because of lack of system data (missing info about boiler on/off for example) it is impossible to figure out when system is asking for heat - difference between temperature and targetHeatTemperature is untrustworthy. 😠

You can see yellow line of current temperature reflecting state and is scheduled at the main unit - 1: stop heating, 2: prepare to be heated to 20° at 3, 3: be at 20°, 4: heat to 21°. But the gray line of targetHeatTemperature stays all the time unaffected at 21° except of while when systems smart fn asked for unscheduled value to prepare room for point 3.

Honeywell API useless for deeper stats?
While prepairing my own simple Evohome heating monitor I found out some annoying problems with data given by HW API. It seems that in some cases API doesn't reflect main unit state and schedule correctly and "keeps" zones targetHeatTemperature unchanged nevermind the current state displayed and realized by main unit. Look at image in next toot to view problematic situation.
