The first time I was overwhelmed by the special- and theatrical effects.
Not used to that with Hong Sister's dramas.
But they do fit here very well.
Even better this time watching.

None of Hong Sisters' dramas is A+B+C =AB. Multi-layered with roots in ancient legends and myths.
All of their dramas have that.

Things to sort out for me with AoS: The Firebird and The Egg, The Sword, the Water.
Pointing to Russian/Slavic folklore but also to myths better known in West, like King Arthur- and Celtic sagas.
Grimm Brothers , Tolkien, JKRowling: They all come in mind.

Alchemy Of Souls 2, ep. 2 watched.

Hong Sisters are masters in writing multi-level/multi-dimensional TV-dramas.
With AoS they have reached Tolkien and JK Rowling's level in my opinion.
With ancient myths, sages and legends as source.
The Sword brought by Naksu from the lake: Excalibur?

Hi.
One Hong Sisters drama that often flies under the radar, which is a favorite for me: "Couple or Trouble" aka "Fantasy Couple".
Location is a small village at the sea, where everybody knows each other.
What if a superrich lady ends up there , knowing nobody, not even her self ?

Lighthearted with lot's of those little HS-jokes.

My own , sometimes not so humble opinion:
BIG was the only Hong Sister's prod. that derailed, lost sense halfway.
"49 Days" ( Not HS ), let a lot of people down, not me.
Very accurate.
"Painter of the Wind" was not everybody's choice.
Still a Favorite for me.Was my first by the way.
( When will a drama be written specially for Moon Geun Young ? Not just any drama !)
Fact: I have seen not all yet...

I'm diagnosed with #ADHD, so this point is especially interesting for me.

I didn't find anything to that topic when googling or even on reddit.
But it is so clear when you think about it. Like the Dementors in the Harry Potter series are a metaphor for depression.

I'm wondering if one of the #HongSisters ever had to struggle with #ADHD... ? Because #AlchemyOfSouls is the best #allegory for ADAH ever! Of course in the character of #JangUk.

- Mu-deok / Nak-su is often frustrated with him as pupil, because he is unable to concentrate
- he is very easily distracted
- when criticized, he completely locked down
- when praised, he thrives
- loosens the reins when coaching, he immediately becomes "lazy" again

and so on...

- his father gave it (closed energy portal) to him
- all the people around him think he is lazy
- he is starting things but cant end them (he had 12 masters, but left all of them)

@kamikat Korean top- dramawriters Hong Sisters have a talent to let everything happen at the same moment:Horror with vicious humor, romance , suspense, etc. With Alchemy I think they are on Tolkien/JK-Rowling-level , filmwise.

They choose actors and actresss themself, usually lesser known. Lifting them to AA-level, they are all still there 🙂.
